Magic Circle - John William Waterhouse

Cultivating vision

One emphasis of the Great Work in Lodge Daath is the practice of cultivating inspiration through experience and knowledge in order to maintain individual striving and vision. This attitude towards occult work is an emphasis of higher magic where manifested magical work depends on the occultist’s cultivated mastery, purity, and capability.

Cultivation of vision and understanding will inevitably lead to all-encompassing desire for creativity. Purified and sanctified inspiration for reaching the inner potential of Unity, which is to be attained through perfection of the individual. The Aspirant’s Will is the Inner Master’s call for the lower personality to unify with the genuine soul of the Self. This beautiful, overwhelming, and demanding pull towards the magical process is the essence of erotic and sexual unification.

There are gnostic and also dualistic undertones in this way of working. It is a work of separation of the defective. It is a work of nurturing potential for greatness, a work of nature and the feminine. It seeks to shake off the futility of illusionary thoughts and reach for the stars of perfected spirit and personal gnosis. Lodge Daath’s emphasis in occult work is to seek both individual work of solitude and the outer creative work of collaboration.
